JOG to the Black Sea

Cycling, Swimming and Kayaking from Scotland to the Black Sea

It’s the magic of risking everything for a dream that nobody sees but you.

Who

My name is Sam Brenkel, I am a 27 year old from Scotland. Born and raised in the UK, I have spent the last three years living and working in Dubai. I love exploring new parts of this glorious planet and have found that doing so using only your own power can be extremely rewarding. Limited experience in two of the sports and a complete novice in the third, this unique journey should prove to be an ultimate challenge.

What

Commencing in June 2016, I will Cycle, Swim and Kayak 5000km through 14 countries from Scotland to the Black Sea. The JOG is made up of 5 sections. Section 1: Cycle from John O’Groats to Dover. Section 2: Swim across the English Channel. Section 3: Cycle from Calais to the Black Forest. Section 4: Kayak the entire length of the Danube. Section 5: Have many large beers.

Why

Pure and simple, this is a personal challenge, nothing more complicated than that. Each individual aspect of the trip have been goals of mine for a few years, so I have decided to combine them all into one long journey. I want this journey to be an inspiration for others and prove that anyone is capable of achieving great things. I am also representing two great charities, you can find more details about them below.
